Our theme, ‘Ever Ancient, Ever New,’ is derived from a quote from St Augustine of Hippo lamenting that too late in life, he came to appreciate the beauty in the timelessness of God as both a comfort, challenge and surprise in his unfolding journey.

“O Beauty ever ancient, ever new, late have I loved you! You were within me, but I was outside, and it was there that I searched for you. ..You were with me, but I was not with you. Created things kept me from you; yet if they had not been in you they would have not been at all. You called, you shouted, and you broke through my deafness. You flashed, you shone, and you dispelled my blindness.” Augustine of Hippo

In the Good Samaritan Benedictine tradition, we keep front of mind that education is a sacred journey of encounter with the Divine, in our relationships with others, the Earth, and all creation. The theme “Ever Ancient, Ever New” invites us to reflect on the enduring values of stewardship, justice, and conversatio, ensuring care for the past, the present, and the future with equal concern.
